The Alpaca Lifestyle includes a number of opportunities to get together with other owners and breeders to learn, share, and socialize. There are also times when visits to farms on both casual and formal missions can provide training and other learning opportunities. Check Back often and we will attempt to highlight some of these...
Coming in 2012...we will be providing some of the best training for individuals that are thinking about or just beginning their adventure in the alpaca lifestyle.
Again this year, our farm will be providing training for those individuals that want to get an idea about the wheres, whys, and hows of alpaca farming. We will be looking at all aspects of the thought process used to determine: the type of alpaca to purchase, the types of equipment needed to maintain all sizes of alpaca operations, things to look out for in the day-to-day operation of an alpaca farm, the pros and cons to farm design, how to keep your herd in a good health position, and much, much more.
We will also be looking at how to promote your alpacas, what other related businesses may be waiting for you to consider, and what can you do with the fiber that will be there before you know it! You will also have an opportunity to look at the unique operation of a coffee roasting company on the farm...you can participate in coffee tasting and sample the differing roasts during your classroom time.
There will be time to get your hands on some of the most beautiful creatures on our planet and you will be able to put some of the classroom discussion into action! Overall, we feel you will enjoy this training event, and will leave feeling you have spent your valuable time in a valuable way!
The cost for this day of learning will remain at $35.00 per person. Registration is always limited, but we welcome individuals that are interested in creating a very different lifestyle for yourself and your family. This is "rated" as an adult activity and is always limited to no more than 16 participants. Contact us at jagsalpacas@walnutknollfarm.com for times and dates and to receive registration materials.
